Item Upgrade: A Simple Definition
Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item are enhanced by upgrading it, also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment gives a linear increase in a given stat.
Players can recycle up to six items at a time in order to gain an ability to gauge the level of each of the upgraded components. The cost of recycling an item varies depending on its rarity and.
Upgrade components
In Guild Wars 2, an upgrade of an item can be a method to increase the stats of your weapons and armor. This can be achieved through many different methods such as using upgrade components as well as increasing an item's mark level or rarity. Additionally to this, many items can be reforged to boost their stats even more.
Upgradeable items can be found in the game, both in the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the primary method to upgrade equipment. These are items that can slot into equipment. Most equipment has slots for upgrading and some require a specific level of upgrade. Certain upgrade components provide specific bonuses, while others offer a general bonus.
There are many types of upgrade elements available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions and jewels. Universal upgrades, such as gemstones and enchantments can be placed in any type of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific to the type of equipment. Glyphs are only available in gathering tools. They offer a range of bonuses, ranging from boosting the speed of an item's gathering to providing extra crafting material.
Choose the item from your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will be displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. It will display the expected stats following the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read blocked if you don't have enough of or.
The upper-right corner shows the amount of upgrade components required for the specific item. The cost of an upgrade increases as the level and rarity of the item increases. However you can lower the cost by purchasing upgrades from a vendor or trading them with other players.
Nearly all weapons can be upgraded with an upgrade to a prefix for example, an insignia or a rune, and many are upgraded by suffix upgrades. These upgrades alter the name of the item, adding an adjective, such as 'Radiant' or 'Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the foci and shields from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods in any way.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a way to communicate visual information. They move to grab the viewer's eye and spark curiosity. The glyphs' animation mimics body language, making them even more effective in communicating messages across language barriers. Glyphs can also increase the retention of the message by triggering an emotional connection in the brain.
Each glyph has a set of values that it could enhance a stat, as shown on the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the highest value that the glyph can improve a stat by but not the amount it actually improves the stat by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're in awe of it.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you have a glyph or rune you don't want to use, but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu within the Glyphs Panel. This will create a new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.
You can remove the glyph using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will cause the item to be destroyed within which it is placed however, you can salvage the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, therefore it should not be considered as a loss.
A glyph added to an item may cause it to become unstable, and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you remove the item. You can also add an inscription to your equipment to increase its value. For example the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and deal it slowly rather than all at once. This is beneficial for those who take a lot damage from their enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens allow players to alter the affixes they use on their equipment and weapons, and can be found in various ways, including in mistery boxes, as an uncommon drop from skulled creatures, or by killing bosses. Each reroll provides the player with an unspecified affix, which is typically better than what they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade the weapon's stats to increase damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items are not listed in the menu of upgrade options, but they can be upgraded. These rerolled items can be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity and also its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower-leveled ones.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can use Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls are based on a % chance for a weapon's trait. If it is higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower the weapon is left as it was. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is a fantastic option to upgrade an item. However, players should be aware of the fact that the total ilvl is reduced by the number the rerolls required to bring it to the final ilvl. This effect is most evident on rings and Diadems, as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
Players have complained that the reroll system is too expensive. It would be fairer to allow players to pay for it using money or food items which allows players to make adjustments to their builds without spending too much time. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to implement at this time in the game's development. They're planning to include an ingredient that allows players to change their race in the future.
Leveling
There are a number of ways to level up an upgrade to an item. The first is to increase the amount of upgrade which boosts the upgrade value of any stat. The second is to boost the effect of an upgrade, which increases the damage or heal of a specific stat. Additionally, there is the ability to upgrade the base item to a higher upgrade type. The upgraded item will keep its iLevel, but be upgraded to reflect the effects of the upgraded item.
When upgrading items it is essential to remember that upgrades are random. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However there are occasions where a higher or more special roll could occur. In addition the iLevel of an upgrade will be determined by the item type which means that should you upgrade a unique or rare item to an exceptional item type, it could get a higher iLevel.
Upgrades can be costly Particularly if you're upgrading your equipment from the standard track to legendary. The cost of upgrading a piece of equipment will depend on the iLevel it's built upon and the amount of upgrade levels. Certain upgrade tracks require crests to reach the next level.
If you're lucky, your upgraded item will reach the maximum level of its upgrade track and unlock an additional benefit. This will result in a significant increase in the value of the item. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level though. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased by +3.
The iLevel will also change according to the upgrade path and its base level. For instance, an item that is upgraded from being a scarce or exclusive item to an extraordinary one will have the chance to gain the Enhanced Defense of the new base item.
